how did you find me

What do you want to know? DON'T ANSWER THAT. First, let me tell ramble to you about myself.

engineer

I'm fascinated by all things engineering: computer, aerospace, and mechanical, but mainly electrical (represent). In fact, "fascinated" does not adequately describe how much of an utter engineer I've become.

I routinely try to engage my family in verbal, back of a napkin-like, calculations on a variety of topics. My dad tolerates it. Some examples are how much money Exxon-Mobil made per hour during their record profit fiscal year of 2005, how much money Ford lost per hour in their record losses of fiscal year 2006, and how much linear distance my fingers have traveled while talking to my friends on the internet for the past 10 years.

Keeping my mind sharp by doing those calculations, reading academic and industry papers, or just refreshing myself on electrical / mathematical theories are activities I do a lot of these days. Subconsciously it may be a part of preparing myself for the transition from the commercial world back into academics for graduate school, but mainly I enjoy it.

programmer

Since I can't do art, nor can I write, programming is my creative release. You might find yourself asking, "How can you creatively write an online banking system?". Well, you can't. That's why I only make games and the occasional graphics / physics tech demo.

The inspiration for my games comes from games I played in my childhood. Sure, the ideas may not always be truly original, but I try to present them with differences and improvements from what I had growing up. My goal is to make games that my friends and I can enjoy, alone or together.

Writing graphics and physics tech demos lets me combine my passion for applied mathematics and engineering with programming - plain and simple. With these demos I can explore areas that I had limited exposure to, and allow me to expand upon the fundamentals I learned, while attending University.

Examples of the games I've written can be found on one of my other websites, skew.telefragged.com. I'll get some of the other programs up there eventually.

reader

Let me just say that I tried reading the first 6 Dune books, and I enjoyed most of them, but I can't bring myself to finish Chapterhouse: Dune. Seriously, what the hell.
